  I am having some reservations about Barbara Anderson

  recently, there was a very nice thread in which one of our posters apologized for having the temerity to challenge barbara anderson.. i thought it was very nice to see that they made up and put the personal stuff aside.. however, i felt the need to call it like i really feel it - i was very put off by the barbara anderson reply in which she plugged her new promotional meeting.

  it brought back memories of that horrid little affair from a couple of years back when she kept posting up "the greatest new thing about blood which will bring down the watchtower society is just around the corner -- and i could tell you but then i would have to kill you, etc."..

  just like another jehovah's witnesses prophecy about the coming of the lord in our time.. i am beginning to wonder if perhaps the siren song of self-promotion is getting a little too strong for real life.. ok. i said it.. james - and saying it was not the easiest thing that i have ever done.

  If we ever get to the point where we can’t question the motives of well-known ex-JWs such as Barbara Anderson, then we might as well go back to the WTS where we all know it is forbidden to question the elders, let alone the FDS.

  Promoting “the big news” in the way she did may have been mishandled in the sense that she is dealing with ex-JWs who were promised and expecting the Big A for years, even decades, yet it never came. So some ex-JWs may have a slight skepticism towards anyone else who proclaims that some “big news” is coming.

  Having said that, I am familiar with what Barbara does and I think she is a very gutsy and intelligent lady. If I ever had the pleasure to meet her, I would welcome her with a huge hug!

  i asked my dad that years ago and he said that it wouldn't start until the new system comes.

  does this not make sense to anybody else?

  i thought it would have started when jesus came back whicj was supposedly in 1914... .

  The way they explained it was that although he was put on the throne in 1914, he wouldn’t start reigning until Armageddon was over.

  Then he would start his 1000 year reign.

  let me explain a little about what i do each day...... i work for a company that arranges trusts in the cook islands, turks & caicos, panama, etc.

  i know that blondie is against what i am about to say, but i do not just believe that the wts have a variety of trusts in various jurisdictions around the world......i am absolutely positive they do.. .

  i personally look after 14 trusts.

  i've known two professional magicians in my lifetime.. one was a friend and the other was a very close acquaintance.. both would discuss magic with me at different times.

  each was devoted to protecting the secrecy necessary to maintain the brotherhood of illusion.. however, i am a curious person.

  Hmm, it’s possible you didn’t receive as many comments as soon as you wanted because your post rambles and is written in such a way that discerning readers would wonder if you were trying to convince us of something that wasn’t true (we’ve learnt since leaving the JWs not to believe everything we read).

  Take into account many of us are of the Sesame Street generation – we like things to be presented to us in small, direct packages.

  Frankly, I’m not really sure what the real point of your post was. If you want to write it again more succinctly, perhaps you’d get more replies.

  i know this doesn't apply to all countries.. however, is it a 'requirement'?.

  In Australia you are asked to sign the card. I think they explained it being that it allowed them to retain the information on you.

  Here in Oz we have Freedom of Information laws. It would be interesting to know if they apply to our publisher record cards too.

  Do You Personally Know Of Anyone That Committed Suicide?

  lately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.

  most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.

  for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

  I knew of a young teenager who was raised as a JW by his parents. No one seemed to know why.

  My aunt had bi-polar and we didn’t know it. She was in her 60s when she took her own life. She had been a JW but was inactive, I believe. The funeral service was held in the funeral home.

  I’ve had depression since I don’t know when. I remember having depression when I was about 10 but I didn’t realise it. I didn’t know any different. I’ve often been suicidal but have never done anything. Ironically, the more depressed I get the more lethargic I get, and when I’ve wanted to commit suicide most, is when I’ve hadn’t the energy to go through with it.

  I’m on anti-depressants and am undergoing therapy, but I have no doubt I am stuck with this for life.

  Advise on housing contract

  i would value your opinions on how best to handle a dilema i have with a rental contract i signed.. 1-a year ago i agreed to let out a property i owned to a tennent.

  i spoke to the council and they said i was responsible for the water and sewage and so i areed to pay it.

  (would i failed to understand that it was my responsibility to pay the council but i was entiltled to ask the tennent tp pay me these monies.. 2-i also failed to take into consideration the basement , landing and hallways in working out the rent which is based on the kvm size of the house.. therefore on point 2 alone he is paying me 25% less a month than the correct monthly rental-.
